| VANCOUVER - As the official voice of the Vancouver Canucks, TSN Radio 1040 in Vancouver announced its broadcast team for the 2014-15 season before kicking off comprehensive radio coverage of every Canucks game on Tuesday, Sept. Tom Nelson . 23 at 6 p.m. PT with the team taking on the San Jose Sharks in their first pre-season matchup. Joining the TSN 1040 broadcast booth this season is play-by-play announcer Jon Abbott, a seasoned broadcaster who most recently served as the radio voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies. Abbotts extensive hockey broadcasting resume includes calling games at the IIHF World Junior Championship, the Calder Cup Finals, and the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Abbott shares the booth on a rotating basis with play-by-play announcer John Shorthouse, a Vancouver native who has called Canucks games for the station since 1999. They are joined by analyst Dave Tomlinson, who has been part of TSN 1040s Canucks coverage since 2010. "Im truly honoured to join the TSN Radio family in Vancouver and to become a part of the Canucks storied broadcast history," said Abbott. "Im very excited to work with John Shorthouse and Dave Tomlinson to serve the great sports fans of British Columbia in the community we now call home." Throughout the season, TSN 1040s coverage of the Canucks is complemented by analysis from a roster of guests, including TSNs all-star team of Hockey Insiders and experts. That helped get us into the top 10." HAWKSWORTH OUT: Jack Hawksworth missed the IndyCar race Sunday at Pocono because of a heart contusion. Hawksworth was injured Saturday in an accident during the second practice session. He was evaluated and released from the infield care centre. Hawksworth stayed overnight for observation at a hospital and was released Sunday. Hawksworth will be re-evaluated by the IndyCar medical team Tuesday before being cleared to drive next week at Iowa Speedway. KANAAN CANT: Tony Kanaan dominated most of the race and led 78 laps. Montoya, who won from the pole, took the lead for good when Kanaan was forced to pit for fuel with four laps left. "Its obviously frustrating to dominate a race like that and not win," Kanaan said. "We just missed going the full 500-mile distance by a few laps and its heartbreaking when those things happen. But that is racing, as they say, and we will focus on Iowa now and put it behind us." SPEED RACER: The average speed of 202.402 mph was the fastest 500-mile race in IndyCar history. The 200-lap race was caution-free for the first 158 laps until Graham Rahal spun to bring out the yellow.
