It was a night to remember in St. Alexander Radulov Stars Jersey . Paul. The Winnipeg Goldeyes set two franchise records, and the Saints — along with their fans — said goodbye to their 22-year home in fashion. The Goldeyes (61-35) were able to better the St. Paul Saints (48-47) by a score off 4-3 in front of a record crowd of 9,455 fans at Midway Stadium. The win was record setting 61st on the season for the Fish, bettering their 2011 mark of 60. The win also broke the Goldeyes record for road wins in a season, with 33. There wasnt an empty seat in the house, as the two teams took to the field for the final game ever at Midway Stadium. A game which was highlighted by some great baseball, but also by fun in-game contests, an on-field post game party, and an appearance by Saints part owner Bill Murray — who even greeted fans as they entered the park one last time. The Saints for the second night in a row, jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. After their lead-off batter Mitch Elliott got on base on a single, Willie Cabrera drove him in on a two-run homer. Saints starting pitcher Anthony Claggett had the Goldeyes number through the first third of the game. He set all nine batters down in order to remain perfect through three. In the fourth though, Tyler Kuhn would get on base on a single and then would be driven in three batters later by Casey Haerther on a sac fly. The run pulled the Goldeyes within one of the home team. In the bottom of the same inning the Saints would reestablish their two run lead on a sac fly of their own. The score at the halfway point was 3-1 for St. Paul. Both teams would then remain quiet through the fifth and sixth innings, but in the seventh Josh Mazzola hit his second multi-run homer in as many nights. After Reggie Abercrombie and Donnie Webb got on base, Mazzola stepped to the plate and hit the three-run home run over the left-centre field fence that would put the Goldeyes up for the first time in the game. The eighth and ninth innings were highlighted by great pitching from both teams relievers. Including a team high 17th save for Chris Kissock, who struck out Elliott for the final out of the night. Goldeyes starter Nick Hernandez earned his league leading 12th win of the season. He was able to strikeout four and only gave up two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings of work. Claggett was charged with the loss despite his impressive start to the game. The Goldeyes return home tomorrow, and will open up their final series of the regular season tomorrow night at Shaw Park.
